Kids love the Symphony too!

FEBRUARY 6, 2009   Natalia and Benjamin Huth of Phoenix and their father Mark joined over 450 other enthusiastic attendees at the West Valley Symphony’s most recent concert.  The Huth’s are Season ticketholders of the Symphony’s concert series,  Benjamin, 8, and his sister Natalia, 6, both study the piano, but they don’t limit their interest to just one instrument.  Benjamin favors the violin while Natalia likes the bassoon and they received some personal attention from the Symphony’s Concertmaster and Principal First Violin, Cathy Worcester and Principal Bassoonist, Julie Schlafer.  “As musicians, we love having an opportunity to share our love of classical music with youngsters,” says Worcester.

“The chance to share my love of classical music with my children is very important to me.  At his first West Valley Symphony concert in 2004, I sat with Benjamin and watched him paying complete attention to the orchestra and I thought life just doesn’t get any better.  He loves a good romp through the brass and percussion” says Mr. Huth.  “The venues are friendly and non-intimidating and I have yet to hear a flat or routine performance from the musicians and conductors of the West Valley Symphony.  It seems to me that the performers are truly enjoying what they do and that comes through clearly in the many fine concerts given by this organization.”

As serious students of the piano, Benjamin has been at his lessons for four years, the Symphony’s next concert on March 8th at 3pm is of special interest to both children.  The concert will feature well-known pianist, Walter Cosand who will join the professional orchestra and Maestro Warren Cohen in a performance of Saint Saëns’ “Concerto No. 2 for Piano and Orchestra” at Sun City West’s Prince of Peace Catholic Church.  Concertgoers will also hear Georges Bizet’s “Symphony in C” and Maurice Ravel’s “Pavane” during the French Romantics program.

Tickets are priced at $25 Adult and $15 Youth, seating is general admission.  Call (623) 236-6781 for tickets.  Additional information about the West Valley Symphony is available at:  www.westvalleysymphony.org.
