Symphony announces
Music Director/Conductor

 
   
 APRIL 16, 2009:  The West Valley Symphony is continuing its revival on the local arts and culture scene with the announcement of Maestro Cal Stewart Kellogg as Music Director and Conductor for the 2009-2010 concert season.  Maestro Kellogg conducted two West Valley Symphony concerts this past season which were attended by enthusiastic audiences.  “Maestro Kellogg inspired and led our musicians so wonderfully, and our audience was so appreciative.   As a former professional musician, I was elated to see and hear our musicians perform at such a high level.  We are delighted to engage Maestro Kellogg as our Music Director and Conductor for next season,   I can not wait to attend the first concert” says Louisa Kellam, West Valley Symphony Trustee. 

  Mr. Kellogg possesses an impressive resume having conducted orchestras around the globe, including the L'Orchestre de Monte Carlo, Israel Sinfonietta and the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome.  In North America he has performed with the Baltimore Symphony, Philharmonic Orchestra of Florida, the Seattle Symphony and at the Spoleto Festival, USA.  In addition to conducting orchestral performances, Maestro Kellogg is a well known opera conductor and has conducted productions for the L'Opera de Montreal, Canadian Opera Company, Rome Opera, Teatro San Carlo of Naples, and the Washington Opera at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.. From 1999-2005 he was Principal Conductor of the Arizona Opera and is presently Music Director and Conductor of the Symphony of the Southwest in Mesa.

 “It is an honor to be associated with such a fine group of musicians and I look forward to our future collaboration,” Mr. Kellogg said.  He added, “Next season I have programmed a variety of wonderful pieces that everyone will enjoy, stretching from the works of master composers such as Mozart, Beethoven and Tchaikovsky to show business legends Leonard Bernstein, Cole Porter and Richard Rodgers.  Come and be a part of something special.”

The four-concert season begins on November 1, 2009 and continues with performances on December 6th, January 24th and March 14th at venues in Sun City and Sun City West.   All concerts are on Sunday afternoons and begin at 3pm.  A season subscription to all four concerts is available for $90, a 10% discount off the single ticket price of $25.  Youth (18 years and under) are available for $15.  Seating is general admission.  Visit the West Valley Symphony website at www.westvalleysymphony.org or call (623) 236-6781 for tickets and information.
